Delhi Government Launch Loan App for SC, ST, OBC applicants

A mobile application for self-employment loan applicants from the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Caste, minorities and differently-abled communities was launched by the Delhi government on Saturday.

The application for the Delhi SC/ST/OBC/ Minority and Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (DSFDC), in which provides loans to help set up small businesses, might have provisions for applications as well as complaints.

At an event held at Talkatora Stadium here, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched the application and introduced a new scheme for giving coaching to SC and ST category students looking for competitive exams. The chief minister will also launch a scheme for coaching facilities for SC students pursuing civil services, medical, engineering and other competitive examinations, he said.

Delhi government’s social welfare department will likely be launching the loan application which are going to even track the performance of the officers and may record every movement of the files. The social welfare minister Rajendra Pal Gautam claimed that the lazy officers will be blacklisted and removed later from their positions. “This application may record every information of the movements of the application filed by the person. Hence, we will track the officials who are handling the file,” said Gautam.

” Initially 100 students will be selected under the scheme and later the number will be increased to 5,000. The SC/ST fund may be used to pay for their coaching fees as well as Rs 2,500 as an assistance for buying books and other needs,” Gautam said.

The coaching fee may be decided as per the prevailing market rates, he added.

The minister additionally said that a scheme for loans up to Rs 20,000 to street vendors are going to be launched in January. “Under the scheme, no residence proof will be required and a subsidy of Rs 10,000 will be given,” he said.

The department has planned to give loans to 1000 street vendors utilizing a fund of Rs 2 crore, he added.

” We are going to start with 100 students in this financial year. In the next year’s budget, we may make provisions for 5,000 students in the scheme … We will give up to 40,000 for fees in the best coaching institutes,” said Mr. Kejriwal.

The Chief Minister said another social welfare scheme for giving small loans to street vendors, auto-rickshaw drivers and rickshaw drivers might be announced next month.

Social Welfare Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam had said on Friday that the scheme should cover coaching for examinations for the civil services, medical, engineering, banking and Group A and Group B jobs in the government. Those students who family income was up to 2 lakh annually could get 100% scholarship, while those with incomes of 2 lakh to 6 lakh would get 75%, he said.

Complex Procedure

Mr. Gautam had said that the existing loan scheme also had not been working as intended, with the DSFDC giving out really few loans and the procedure being complex.
